Steve and Jen Butwill

For 11 years, Steve and Jen lived in Liberia where they launched and operated the Po River Medical Clinic. There, they served to meet the medical needs of some of the most remote and hard-to-reach communities in the country. Steve and Jen, from the start, worked to build local capacity with a plan for sustainability. In 2024, they officially turned over the clinic to capable local leadership.

Now, Steve, Jen and Maylynn are moving to Guinea and continuing their journey in medical missions. They are joining the team at Sacre Coeur Pediatric Center, a new pediatric hospital located just outside Conakry. Sacre Coeur is operated by Hope Ignited, a faith-based organization, and is the first dedicated pediatric center in all of Guinea. Steve will assist the organization in the areas of hospital administration and construction management. Jen will focus on providing pediatric critical care and nursing education.

Guinea is a predominantly Muslim country with half of its population under the age of 15. This pediatric medical center gives us the opportunity to be the hands and feet of Jesus while meeting the overwhelming medical needs of the world’s most vulnerable population- children.

Guinea is also a French-speaking African nation. So, Steve, Jen and Maylynn will spend the next year in France doing an intensive French language course. The course will end in July 2025 when the family will move to Guinea full-time.

Please pray for God’s guidance, wisdom and provision as they transition out of one mission field and into another.
