Charles Smith

Charles serves in the rural community of Koboko, Uganda.  He works alongside local church leaders and members of the local church communities to facilitate prison ministry.  They seek to share the word of God inside the prison.  Hope for redemption and reconciliation in a culture that otherwise looks at honor and shame.  A light shining in the darkness, a message of hope, that they are still people, children of God, valued.

Charles has a background in computer programming.  The local leaders, the church leaders, and the refugee community have asked for and Charles is providing basic computer skills instruction.  Computers are seen by the community as the tool of the future and those who know how to use them will have a brighter future.  Charles sees it as an opportunity to live that message of bringing hope, the same message the prison ministry shares in the prison.

Koboko is in northwest Uganda along the borders with both the Democratic Republic of Congo and South Sudan.  There is a large refugee population in Koboko from both Congo and South Sudan.
