Bill and Trace DiCocco
Bill and Trace DiCocco spent the first years of their marriage pursuing the American dream… Secure job, safe church family, cute little house, three kids & a dog… only to look around them one day, 10 years in, and ask, “is this really all there is? Because I somehow once thought that God’s story was a little bigger than this.” Thus began an epic journey that continues each day with waking up to say “God, we are here and we love you and we are listening – whatever you ask for today, we will say ‘yes’. “
By living in this “just the next right thing” reality, they are following those individual steps into Burundi. After serving for nearly 4 years into one of the many poverty-entrenched informal settlements that are found clustered around Johannesburg, South Africa, Billy and Trace began to realize that God was starting to brew something new- something that would call them out of the community they have loved so deeply. Goodbyes are difficult, but knowing they are firmly in God’s hands make these next steps beautiful.
Bill will be spending a season with Turame MicroFinance Bank in Bujumbura, Burundi – an offshoot of World Relief. Bill’s specialty, before they began a ministry of Relationally Journeying, was in IT Systems Administration and he has traveled back and forth to Rwanda, Burundi and the DRCongo in IT ministry many times since 2005. He will be working on the IT side of Turame, streamlining and troubleshooting, training a new local professional to run the system and writing manuals. Trace is a photojournalist and has been privileged to use her giftings to tell the stories of many NGOs they have been fortunate enough to link arms with.
Madyline (16) Harrison (14) and Avery (12) are returning to the US for a season to live with extended family and will enroll in high school there.
If you are praying, you can pray for wisdom, love and grace that flows from the deepest of places and saturates every piece of their lives. Pray for protection and provision. And pray for these beautiful teenagers, away from mom and dad. That God does great things in their lives and holds them closely in His hand.
