If you are interested in serving as a missionary with Commission To Every Nation, we welcome your inquiry. Our desire is to make it simple and straightforward for you to get to the mission field.

The Harvest Is White...
The Laborers Are Few.
Is One Of The Reasons The Laborers Are Few
Because We Make It So Hard For Them To Go?

Requirements For Established Missionaries
Occasionally missionaries already serving on the field find themselves in a position where they need to find a new mission with which to affiliate.
  • Perhaps their area of ministry has changed, placing them outside the scope of ministry of their current mission.

  • Perhaps administrative or other changes in their current mission leave them outside the mission's scope of calling.

  • Perhaps they are on the field as independent missionaries and desire to associate with a larger organization for the support and feeling of belonging that comes from such a relationship.

  • Or perhaps a church who has supported them by receiving donations for many years can no longer fulfill that ministry.

Commission To Every Nation welcomes your inquiry if:
  • You are leaving your current mission with a good relationship.
We do ourselves and the kingdom of God a great disservice if we tramp through life leaving a trail of broken and damaged relationships. Make certain you make things right before you move on.

  • You are related to a local church in your home country and in your country of service.
The local church is God's chosen tool for spreading His kingdom on earth. Parachurch organizations and parachurch ministries only have kingdom validity as they relate to the ministry of the local church.

  • "Lone Rangers" need not apply.
While CTEN is not interested in "controlling" your ministry (a large part of our vision is to help you most effectively fulfill your vision) we are interested in relationship - knowing those who labor among us.

Requirements For New Missionaries
If you are not currently serving on the mission field but are interested in going into missions service, Commission To Every Nation desires two things:
  • A whole hearted recommendation from your pastor in which he details areas of ministry in which you have served in your local church.
God's chosen tool for spreading His kingdom here on earth is the church. If you have not been faithful serving right where you are, there is no reason to believe you would be faithful serving on the mission field.

  • That you have an established ministry on the field that is inviting you to come serve with them.
This provides a support structure for you as you are adapting to and learning about missions ministry and it provides a necessary accountability structure to help you be effective as you learn.

Steps To The Field
Perhaps you feel called to missions service but do not know how to get started. Contact us and we will "walk through" the process with you. Basically the following steps will be the road to the missions field we recommend you follow:
  1. Short-Term Trip
If you have never been on a short-term trip, this is the place to start. We offer short-term trips to serve with CTEN missionaries. This will give you a "taste" of the mission field to see if it is really for you. If need be, we can help you find a short-term mission opportunity.

  2. Explore Opportunities
If you don't yet have a calling for a specific ministry and/or location, there are many resources available. As a start, we suggest that you examine and pray through the Operation World website.

  3. Limited Term Internship
If you know of an established work that you would like to serve with, we will work with you to arrange a 1-3 month short-term internship period where you can work with them to see how you "fit" and to get a better "feel" for missions life.

If you do not have a preferred area of service, Commission To Every Nation has missionaries and ministries that are open to you coming to work with them for this internship period.

  4. Invitation
Upon completion of the internship period, if the ministry you have served feels you would be an asset to their work they should issue you an invitation to serve with them.

  5. Application
Once you receive an invitation from a work on the field you are ready to submit an application to CTEN.

  6. Orientation
All new missionaries will attend an orientation held in Kerrville Texas. If you are a new missionary you must attend it prior to leaving for your ministry. If you an established missionary already on the field we will look forward to seeing you the next time you return to the US.
