Jason and Kelly Hart

Jason and Kelly Hart moved from Kentucky to Guatemala in June 2019 with their two daughters, Mia and Josie. Since college, Jason had traveled to Guatemala on several mission trips, while Kelly spent two months in Bomet, Kenya, at Tenwek Missions Hospital as part of her Physician Assistant training. Both felt called to return to the mission field and it was a deep part of our conversations before getting married. However, it was not until the birth of their second daughter that they felt God saying now is the time to go.

At first, they did not know where they would serve but God was evident through closed doors to Kenya, followed by a powerful vision trip to Guatemala. During that trip they met a couple who would become their mentors, Ordinary Nurses. With Kelly’s medical background in pediatrics and Jason’s construction/woodworking skills, they felt called to learn from this amazing organization and then use the same model in another village to expand the reach of what it could offer.

After six months of Spanish school, Servant Harts was developed with an initial desire to provide high-quality medical care to malnourished infants with time devoted to sharing the Gospel with these moms along with education on caring for their children. Through the pandemic, God expanded the vision to caring for pregnant moms to prevent malnourishment from even happening. They partner with both a pediatrician and obstetrician in a neighboring town that offers premium health care to these families for the first time in their lives. Every family home is inspected to ensure they have a safe, dry home and a clean-air stove and water filter. Discipleship through relationships is at the heart of the ministry as they seek to share the love of Jesus with every person they meet in San Lorenzo, El Tejar.
