Mark and Kim Agrellas
Mark and Kim Agrellas have been serving in Guatemala since 2005, where they minister to the impoverished or abused as well as children of missionaries. Their children: Amanda (17), Megan (15) and Zachary (8) attend the Christian Academy of Guatemala (CAG) where Mark serves as principal and Kim teaches. CAG’s mission is to provide a US-accredited, quality education to children of missionaries so their missionary parents can continue their work in the field. CAG serves as a support hub to missionaries in Guatemala and is also actively involved in outreach in Guatemala City and the surrounding area. Many of CAG’s graduates become life-long servant-leaders in ministry around the world.
In 2008 Mark and Kim helped open El Refugio, a shelter for abused women and their children. In addition to room and board, El Refugio, gives women the opportunity to heal physically, emotionally, and spiritually, while developing life skills and employment skills. Women and children receive counseling, discipleship, education, legal assistance and medical and dental care at El Refugio. Most importantly, women and children learn about the healing love of Jesus Christ, and many are returning to their communities to share this love with others. El Refugio also works in schools, churches and government organizations to educate about domestic violence and violence against women and children.
Together, the Agrellas family enjoys hosting short-term teams which come to encourage local servants through relationship building and joint projects. They currently work with local church leaders in the indigenous highlands, on the banks of Lake Atitlan, and in an inner-city squatter’s village.
