David and Dawnell (Groff) Garcia

David and Dawnell are missionaries serving in Mexico in the beautiful city of Morelia, Michoacán.

Dawnell grew up on a dairy farm in Pennsylvania and had the privilege of knowing Christ at a very young age. After graduating from high school she attended a Bible institute for two years. Then in 2011, she began a two-year missionary internship in Mexico, where she would grow to love the country and its people, culture, cuisine, and language, and where she would eventually meet her future husband.

David, who is from the city of Morelia, accepted Christ when he was 18 years old. When he met Dawnell he had just finished medical school and was eager to study the Bible in order to better serve the Lord. In 2014 they got married and while David was finishing his three years at the Bible institute in Mexico, Dawnell extended her missionary internship.

Both David and Dawnell are currently part of a team dedicated to planting a church in Morelia by organizing evangelistic activities and discipling families. They also love music and started a group called Lampei Project. The Greek word “lampei” is a transliteration of the word “shine” in Philippians 2:15. Their desire is to shine for Jesus in this dark and hurting world by using their spiritual gifts and musical talents so that more lives can be transformed by the blood of Jesus Christ. This project is completely missions-minded as proceeds go towards other missionaries and/or missions projects.

Additionally, they are both involved in several ministries within the local church including: Kid’s club (a ministry reaching out to children from low-income families), Jr. High youth group, worship team, etc.
