Maddie Barber
Maddie Barber is an English teacher at Rift Valley Academy (RVA) in Kijabe, Kenya. RVA provides a boarding school education for missionary children, allowing their parents to serve effectively in ministry throughout Africa. Most RVA students come from families serving in countries across the continent. Maddie has a strong background in student ministry and Young Life and is excited to teach English while also having the opportunity to openly share her faith with students. Building relationships with young people and encouraging them in their growth has always been one of her greatest passions.
As the daughter of missionaries, Maddie understands firsthand the unique experiences and challenges missionary families face. Her father worked with Engineering Ministries International (EMI), often traveling throughout the year to serve on projects around the world.
Before joining RVA, Maddie taught English at a public high school in Colorado Springs, Colorado, for six years. After visiting RVA while her father was working on an architectural project in Kenya, she felt called to pursue teaching there. Teaching has always been her passion, and she is grateful for the opportunity to combine that passion with missionary service. Maddie is excited to invest in students' lives, help them grow as writers and thinkers, and encourage them in their faith during their time at RVA.
