Kevin is serving in the country of Japan. At first glance, Japan is a modern, safe, and beautiful country. However, only about 1% of the Japanese population are professing Christians. Additionally, there are many problems burdening its people, like a high suicide rate, depression, loneliness, a difficult work culture, fragmented families, and a lack of hope. On top of this, it is estimated that between 80-90% of Japanese people in Japan have never heard the gospel explained to them even once.

Burdened by these realities, Kevin moved to Japan in 2013 as a long-term missionary. After doing full-time language study and high school ministry in Tokyo for 4.5 years, he felt God leading him to move to the city of Sendai in the Tohoku region (which was devastated by a huge earthquake and tsunami in March, 2011). From 2019 until 2025, Kevin helped plant a new church with other missionaries in the city of Sendai and did activities such as evangelism, discipleship and preaching. Kevin has also been inspired to share the gospel online through his Hope for Japan YouTube channel:  https://www.youtube.com/c/hopeforjapan316

After faithfully serving in Sendai, Kevin once again felt God calling him to a new ministry. In the fall of 2025, Kevin followed God’s leading and moved to the city of Nagoya, which is home to more than 2 million people. He is serving as a cooperating missionary at Community Church, which is a small church plant in the heart of the city. Kevin will continue focusing on evangelism, discipleship and teaching the Word of God.

Japan is currently known as the “land of the rising sun.” Kevin’s prayer and belief is that one day soon, Japan will be reached with the gospel and become known as the “land of the risen Son, Jesus Christ.”
