Ben Dewbury

Prior to entering missions, Ben held several pastoral roles in Canada.  God eventually led him to missions in Belize, Central America where Ben has been serving since 2014.  Ben has a passion for evangelism and discipleship, which has led him to be involved at different times in foster care, business for missions, teaching Bible at a high school, and youth ministry.

Rather than creating projects for communities, Ben’s desire is to come alongside the people already leading ministry.  He has had the opportunity to do this with Fusion Church Youth in the communities around Spanish Lookout.   Ben is able to coach and encourage the youth leaders, which allows them to develop and grow.  He connects easily with the local Spanish and Creole students that are attending.  Ben is following up and connecting with these students in their different villages through texting, calls, and face-to-face meetings.  Many of these students come from hard family situations and are seeking love and attention.  Ben tries to coach and point these students to Christ and His redeeming, saving grace.

Ben loves to invest in the lives of emerging ministry leaders and he opens his home so that young people can encounter Christ in the context of home life.  Ben seeks to follow the Spirit’s leading on who to connect with and how to encourage the young leaders God is placing in his life.

Over the past 3 years, Ben has taught Bible at a Christian school in the town of Spanish Lookout.  This role will change to a part-time role, which will allow Ben to support other schools in the area.

Due to the large number of foster children that have been welcomed in the Dewbury home over the years, Ben continues to mentor and father as opportunities arise.
