Brian and Edith
Brian (American) and Edith (Dutch) will be establishing a coffee shop in Faro, Portugal, where their vision is connecting people with each other and their Creator. They will be intentionally creating community and demonstrating the validity of the Christian worldview and its application to life. While targeting Gen Z and young Millennials, they will distinguish the business by offering a unique blend of coffee and pastries, hospitable customer service and community forming events and activities to engage with customers through discussion around art, music, skills, society and life through use of exhibitions, concerts, lectures and workshops, whereby God’s general grace can be explained and how this relates to the human condition and need for His special grace.
They both deeply feel that the need to be in Portugal and relocated there from Belgium in January 2025. Since then, they have been preparing for the business by joining a local church, making local contacts, completing a 12-week Business As Mission training program offered by Youth With A Mission’s School of Business and Entrepreneurship, conducting market research and studying the Portuguese language. Their desire is to establish a business that integrates Christian living with work, exposes people who would not normally enter a church building to the Christian worldview, and leaves a self-sustaining business behind. Ultimately, they want to see the Lord glorified to a greater degree in this part of the world, effectively bypassed by the Reformation.
They have two young adult children, Nyah and Dylan, both in the Netherlands and following the Lord.
