Christian & Caitlin (McDonald) Hernandez
Christian and Cait Hernández serve together in Magdalena Milpas Altas, Guatemala, where they partner with local ministries and organizations to support families through community development, discipleship, education, healthcare, and outreach. Their desire is to come alongside the local church and community, building relationships that reflect the love of Christ while helping meet both practical and spiritual needs.
Together, they partner with His Works Guatemala, Eternal Impact, The Merlo Foundation, and Iglesia Nueva Vida. Through these partnerships, they help facilitate construction projects, children's programs, discipleship opportunities, healthcare support, and community outreach initiatives that serve families throughout the region.
Through His Works Guatemala, Christian and Cait are actively involved in monthly discipleship and outreach ministries within the community that aim to preach the good news of the Gospel. Christian helps lead the children's program that takes place alongside the women's discipleship gathering, teaching lessons, organizing activities, and building relationships with the children. Cait serves with the women, assisting with discipleship activities, crafts, fellowship, and translation when needed. Together, they also support mission teams that serve throughout the year by helping with translation, home visits, Bible studies, and community outreach. Christian works closely with construction teams, helping prepare projects, coordinating logistics, and serving as a translator and ministry partner throughout each team's visit.
Drawing on her background in nursing and public health, Cait also serves through her ongoing work with The Merlo Foundation, where she helps connect families with healthcare resources, coordinates appointments and medication assistance, provides health education, and participates in regular home visits with local families.
A ministry that is especially close to their hearts is Galería Hernández, a family-run ministry and community art space operated alongside Christian's father. Through Galería Hernández, they lead a bi-weekly art program for local children that combines creativity, mentorship, and Biblical teaching. Christian oversees the art instruction and creative projects, while Cait leads the Bible lesson. Through these classes, they seek to create a welcoming environment where children can develop their artistic gifts, build meaningful relationships, and grow in their understanding of God's love.
As they continue serving their community, Christian and Cait are prayerfully exploring how God may expand and direct their ministry in the future. They are excited about the opportunities the art program provides to build relationships, disciple young people, and reach families within their community, and they remain open to wherever God leads.
Christian and Cait come from different backgrounds but share a common passion for discipleship, service, and building relationships within their community. Together, they are committed to using their unique gifts and experiences to serve the people of Guatemala and point others to Christ.
