Janet works with Casaverde Ministries in a community just outside Guatemala city called Ciudad Peronia. The area has a reputation for it’s poverty, crime and gang activity. However, there is definite change and development happening in the community. Light is penetrating the darkness.

This community is somewhat isolated from the rest of Guatemala City because it is set on the top of a mountain and you must cross a deep ravine to get there. It’s 60K+ inhabitants live in a very densely populated area.

A feeding program was started in 1998 in context with a small children’s outreach, in response to the intense needs of the area. Janet was involved in the initial start-up of this program until she returned to the U.S in 1999.

Under the direction of another missionary, Chris Schoff, the ministry progressed and prospered until it came to house not only the children’s program, but a local church, and a Christian Elementary School.

Janet returned to Guatemala in 2008, with the vision to start a music school in Peronia. Through many divine connections and supernatural provision, the school was up and going by mid-2009. The name was changed later on to more accurately describe it’s purpose. CASAVERDE WORSHIP ACADEMY.

During the week, Janet works with the children’s outreach and feeding program, specifically in the area of worship. And on Saturday’s Janet directs the Worship Academy and teaches Worship and Bible classes at the Academy.

The Academy now has a staff of five teachers and an administrative assistant and has anywhere from 100-150 students enrolled each semester. The classes are offered free of charge.

These are high risk youth receiving an opportunity to develop, heal, and grow in an environment filled with love, and filled with music. We have seen over these few years several really talented and dedicated young people excel on their instruments and step into worship ministry in several local churches. Some have continued their musical studies and are now teaching music.

But mostly, we have seen the personal development of each of the students. They are growing in confidence and abilities that go far being the scope of music. God made it clear in the beginning that this school was more about healing hearts than producing ministers. Yet consequently, when hearts are healed, they are in a position to minister to others.

Janet also leads a ministry called Awakened Hearts, which is a ministry designed to encourage, connect and cast vision for the praying church in Guatemala. Over time God has connected her with many people who desire to be a part of the God’s end time purposes in the earth. Individuals, Churches and leaders are sensing the call to pray like never before, and are being awakened by the Holy Spirit to be the House of Prayer He has called us to be.

Through this avenue of ministry Janet has been involved in coordinating conferences, teaching, itinerant ministry, and leading prayer meetings and Bible studies.
