Julia Arreaga

Julia Arreaga has been serving vulnerable communities in Guatemala for more than 15 years. Her calling has always been to share the gospel while working towards strengthening families, equipping youth, and creating opportunities for communities to thrive so that children and young adults can grow up with dignity and hope.

Since 2010, Julia has walked alongside teens in children’s homes, foster care, and adoption, helping them transition into adulthood with the skills and support they need. In 2014, she became a foster mom to teenage girls, opening her home and heart. Today, she is a proud mother, mother-in-law, and grandmother, continuing to live out the values she teaches.

Julia also mentors and trains community leaders, helping them develop local projects that prevent family separation, violence, and irregular migration. Through workshops, leadership development, and practical skills training, she has trained dozens of young leaders — many of whom are now multiplying the impact in their own communities.

Her work has also extended to nonprofits, where she consults and develops programs to serve teens and young adults aging out of the system, building networks of trained mentors around them. She has represented Guatemala internationally, including a U.S. fellowship on Economic Empowerment and Migration, and in 2024, she was honored with the Alumni Impact Award for the impact of the programs she has developed in the communities she serves.

Julia’s vision is clear: the great commission, to go and make disciples while helping families and communities become strong and sustainable, so that children and youth do not have to face life’s challenges alone and without hope, families can stay together, and can thrive in their communities.

But she cannot do this work without partners. Your support — whether through prayer, sponsoring projects, or financial partnership — makes it possible for her to continue training leaders, strengthening families, and building communities of hope. Together, we can ensure that more children and youth in Guatemala not only survive but truly thrive.
