Heath and Mariko Meikle
Heath and Mariko are embedded in East Vancouver and are actively in the process of helping launch a new church in the district of Hastings Sunrise. They are partnering with Christ City Church with it’s vision to plant neighbourhood churches all across the city. The desire is to utilize the new church in Hastings Sunrise as a springboard to the planting of another church in their target area of Commercial Drive in the coming years. Being actively involved in this plant is crucial in helping them acclimatize to the issues and needs in Vancouver, thus equipping them to be able to preach and minister the gospel to their neighbourhood in ways that are winsome and compelling.
The Meikles worked for several years in Athens, Greece, both with refugee ministries and as church planters. After they had helped to plant a church in downtown Athens, God brought them back to Canada, where Heath & Mariko realized that church planting was a huge need in their home country as well. They have a heart for urban centres and marginalized people groups, which fits well with their current situation. Their prayer is for the light of the gospel to dispel the spiritual darkness that they see in Vancouver.
