Baan Zion
A Thai Foundation that serves children whose mothers are detained in prison.
As a legal Thai Foundation with a specially awarded NGO ship, our Ministry focuses on young children who are either forced to live in prison with their mothers or those who, due to her detention, are left behind without care. In prison, being a physically and mentally traumatic environment, there is no good food, health care and whatever else young children need. In the villages, girls suffer under a high rate of forced labour, (sexual) abuse and human trafficking. By request of the detained mothers and prison authorities we do bring those children into our homes. Next to that we support the mothers in prison and assist toward a new life on release.
To date, Baan Zion has four shelter homes with 50 children living in them. We have nineteen full time Thai staff serving these children. Currently we have working relations with eight prisons in four provinces.
